At Lisa Gachet's, second time round!

We left her with her daughter in her arms, nestled in her colourful cocoon in the 18th arrondissement. We find her leaning over her son's cradle, at home in an ultra-bright room. Two years after our first Home Tour, Lisa Gachet once again opens the doors of her home to us. The neighbourhood, the size, the colours...everything's changed, and yet. Push open the door to Lisa's family apartment and you'll be once again blown away by her bold use of colour.

New era

Opening up the walls to create an airy kitchen, playing with volumes to free up space, taming colour to create a cosy, box effect: Lisa alone could write half of our articles dedicated to optimizing a small apartment. However, with the arrival of a second baby, her last 54m2 flat became very cramped. Pragmatic, the designer said goodbye to her Ciel Voilé kitchen and its pinkish beige cane headboard bed to return to Paris' 10th arrondissement. On her agenda: a living room, two bedrooms and 90m2 to make her own, despite renting this new home!.

Mission: personalisation

No thanks, structural work. Lisa didn't touch the kitchen or the bathroom. “We only decorated, really. Everything was white, I wanted to have fun with colour! »  

Her suitcases had barely touched the floor, when the founder of Make my Lemonade brought out her brushes, glue and screwdriver to give a new dimension to her rental flat.  

“People often ask me if they're allowed to wallpaper or repaint. Personally, I presume that I will live there 365 days a year, it is so important that I feel good. I want my home to feel like me so I paint it, and when we leave, I'll paint it white again!"

Playing with materials

It's a big challenge to paint every wall. Not to worry! From the bright yellow bookcase to the heavy pink velvet curtains by The Socialite Family, including the rug which proudly sports bold shades of lilac, the designer relied on the furniture to give depth to her living room. “I wanted big, colourful pieces. I tried to play with textures, and to calm things down with certain deliberately neutral pieces, like the sofa which is placed in front of the green wall Add a few pop posters, unique wall lights and a dominant pendant light, and you get a living room that dusts off the traditional Parisian parquet-moulding-fireplace trio.  


All about perspective

Each piece has its own identity. Sitting on her corduroy sofa, Lisa enjoys a bird's-eye view of the adjoining dining room and its wall covered with fade-out pink wallpaper by Mues Design. Just as joyful as the living room, the room mixes vintage gems and objects created by the designer for her decoration line which will be launched on Make My Lemonade in autumn 2023. Here, no half measures: the soft blue sideboard coexists with a mirror and an orange dresser, while touches of yellow liven up the antique chairs. “I trusted myself and I find that it doesn't work too badly at all, going all out!"

Cane forever

When she opened the door to her bedroom for the first time, the founder of Make my Lemonade discovered a white bubble simply furnished with a bed and bare Pax cabinets. Inevitably, her creative mind started ticking over!  

“We have so many clothes to store, we absolutely had to close these wardrobes!"  


Nostalgic for her Beige Rosé arched headboard, Lisa once again focused on canework to play with texture. Available in natural Oak, the doors this time serve as a counterweight to the Mues Design burgundy and powder pink wallpaper. “I think the colourful combination is sublime and quite chic. Quite a grown up bedroom isn't it!"

Waste not, want not

Placed facing the bed, the inverted arch created from a mix of Pax and Metod cabinets plays with the same codes. Take a closer look: Lisa cleverly took advantage of Ikea wood-effect cabinets to do without Plum Living cover panels on the sides and managed to save on her renovation budget. Applied at the bottom of the niche, the wallpaper creates a boudoir effect, while the offset mirror leaves a place to sit.  


A savvy idea? Lisa used scraps from the hemming her curtains in the living room and bedroom, and mixed them to make cushions that perfectly match the wallpaper.

Make Her Lemonade

On the other side of the flat, Suzanne's bedroom, who's 2 and a half years old now. A lemon poster placed on the shelf and a wardrobe decorated with Lemonade Plum Living doors set the tone, like so many nods to Lisa's story.  


Facing the wardrobe, is Lazare's spot, just a few weeks old. Deep colours dominated by Plum Living's Romarin colour and natural materials from the walls to the ceiling make a unique cocoon. Between these two distinct areas, complementary shades and shapes are use, to create two distinct spaces without renouncing harmony. “I wanted to create a strong and enveloping colourful world for them, so that they feel safe.”

Candy sweet

Blush, Lemonade and Rosemary. On paper, the association is daring. Never afraid of colour, Lisa chose to work with our pink and yellow shades like the candy of her childhood “I loved candy when I was little, they were all so beautiful with their pastel colours! » The canework, the touches of soft green and the sky blue details end up making the link with the green from our collaboration with Margaux Keller.
