Which lights for my kitchen?

Clichés die hard. Take kitchen lights for example: at the mere mention of them you're already picturing flickering LED lights, with the flying-saucer ceiling lamp close behind. Although your tomato salad has never been so well lit, your style is lacking... It's time to change direction, opt for lighting fixtures that will give a new dimension to your kitchen. Here's a look at our favourite wall and ceiling lights.

Pleated sun

The perfect partner for high ceilings lacking volume. With its size and play on lines, this extra-large pendant light attracts the eye and makes its mark in the kitchen. Hugo & Valentine opted for the Carmen model, the latest creation from furniture manufacturer Hartô. Ultra-light, it proudly displays its sun-like pleated design above the dining table. The couple chose it in white, leaving the spotlight to our Green 02 - Sombre forest fronts.

Globes, squared

Simple and effective, globes bring a contemporary touch to the kitchen. Combine them with framed fronts for the perfect shaker kitchen! The question is where to find them... Many brands now offer extra-large bulbs to be hung from a flexible cable. For those who prefer a straight stem, you'll find what you're looking for at Zangra. Over to you to choose the colour!

It's mathematical: the human eye likes odd numbers. So it's no coincidence that triptychs have entered the pantheon of classical art. In the kitchen, it works particularly well with these Flowerpot pendant lamps designed by Verner Panton back in the 60s. Revisited by &Tradition in a range of colours, they bring a touch of vibrancy to a classic kitchen.

Straight to the heart

Just because your kitchen is small, it doesn't mean you have to settle for a ceiling light without character! Interior designer Marie Froideval chose brass to match the countertop and our Liseret handles, opting for a black and gold model by Maison Nordik. The graphic arrows on either side give the room a unique touch.

In the spotlight

The open kitchen is the easiest to illuminate, right? A pendant light for the living room and voila! In reality, it's not so simple... The light is often too dim or not well-placed for the kitchen, and you'll soon find yourself squinting to read a recipe. Anthony Dacci solved this problem by installing three spotlights by Wever & Ducré, directed towards the countertop. A world away from dated rails, they provide light while reinforcing the design-DNA of the space.

Graphic & chic

Who said kitchen lights could only go on the ceiling? With its double arm, this minimalistic wall lamp by Lambert & Fils decorates the wall of Samir & Clara's kitchen in its own right, while illuminating both the room and the countertop. Chosen in black and brass, it highlights the terrazzo, Mini-Rond handles, brass mixer tap, and oven below.

Vintage chandelier

You thought about keeping it for the dining table, the living room too. But why not use it to spice-up your kitchen? The co-founder of the Transition Id is an avid second-hand dealer, and found her chandelier on Selency. Rococo style, it contrasts with the modernity of our smooth natural Walnut fronts and brings a touch of eccentricity to the room while blending in perfectly with the 70s furniture.
