5 projects shaken up with open cabinets

A wedding, a baby, and 70 m2 to renovate: in recent months, you've learned to compromise with as much agility as a CIA negotiator. A skill that comes in handy when it's time to design your kitchen! Between your desire for an airy aesthetic and the need for storage, you'll have to find common ground... have you considered open cabinets? Straight or curved, they allow you to display your favorite items while freeing up space in the cupboards, all while giving the illusion of a custom-made look! Take a look.

About balance

Browse your Pinterest board and one thing is clear: your dream kitchen features floating shelves. But that was before you took a look at the layout of your new apartment, more storage is needed! Wall cabinets are necessary, but that's no reason to give up on style. By inserting open cabinets between the Ikea modules, you create a graphic and rhythmic ensemble that spices up your kitchen.

70s style

Admit it: you would never have suspected that Ikea cabinets were hiding behind this retro-looking storage unit. Composed of Edge design Walnut doors and curved and square open cabinets, it proudly takes its place in your living room. Look closer: with its rounded shelves, the open square cabinet can be placed near a door or window without boxing you in and obstructing the light. Add your favourite items, and you're done!

Open for business

Your colourful books and your printed plates deserve better than the back of a cupboard! Installed between two tall cabinets, open cabinets help to keep the kitchen airy while giving the leading role to your special crockery. When designing your plan, do not hesitate to place them above the sink to counterbalance the volumes and give some visual interest when you rinse your glasses.

Switch it up

You've considered the problem from all angles: unless you move the window, you can say goodbye to your dream of a wall-to-wall kitchen. Good news, the plan B is even more desirable. Bold and unexpected, the open rounded cabinet allows you to free yourself from constraints and design your layout like a piece of living room furniture. With its curved lines, it is placed at the end of a row of cabinets or island layout to give them a unique look. We're in!

Get some air!

Open cabinets aren't limited to the kitchen. Inserted between two Pax cabinets, they help break up the often bulky look of a wardrobe, especially when it's wide. It's an original way to showcase your books and souvenirs just a few steps from your bed... unless you take the opportunity to turn your closets into a living room piece. All that's left is to hide your TV behind these Raphia doors!
