Can your cover panels be used as a countertop?

We do not recommend using our cover panels as countertops in either the bathroom or kitchen: they are not designed to withstand the prolonged effects of water in a bathroom, and could be damaged by utensils, hot pots, etc. in the kitchen.

Note that it is possible to use our finishing panels on the top of sideboards, hall furniture, cupboards, etc. You can put plants, decorative pieces, books, etc. on them.
Lacquer is a material that can be scratched if scrubbed or knocked too hard. It is therefore not recommended as a work surface or a surface that is used frequently.

If you're afraid of using it unsuitably, you can opt for painted oak or natural oak for example. Combining matte lacquer with a natural oak is a favourite of ours here at Plum.

For a countertop in the same colour as your fronts in your kitchen or bathroom, we suggest approaching a countertop specialist who works with Compact or Corian, both of which can be stained in the colour of your choice.

Alternatively, you can consider waxed concrete manufacturers, such as Mercadier, La Bonne Peinture or Marius Aurenti: they offer customised colours to match our fronts (or at least come very close).
