Where to find lovely wall lights?

We tend to think of them as an accessory, and choose them at the end of the project. Fatal mistake! Whether you're installing wall lights in your kitchen, living room or bedroom, the watchword remains the same: plan ahead, both to simplify the electrical layout and to factor them into the budget. But to know at what height to place them, you still need to have set your heart on a specific model. Watch out, gems ahead!

At Violaine d'Harcourt's

Poetry, wall-mounted version! Based in Lisbon, the French designer makes ceramics and metal, glass and paper rhyme together to give life to lighting fixtures charged with soul. Sometimes raw, sometimes ultra-contemporary, her wall lights set the tone of a room. Proof in pictures.

At Enamoura

There are those who bring back holiday souvenirs, and those who extend the summer by bringing a piece of Provence into their homes. Hand-crafted in an artisanal pottery, the wall lights from Enamoura's kilns are witnesses to ancestral craftsmanship. Special mention goes to the versatile models, which can be fixed to both walls and ceilings.

At Axel Chay's

From his ultra-niche collections published in just a handful of copies to his collaborations with Monoprix and Made in Design, from his lighting fixtures conceived as tubular sculptures to his plaster wall lights shaped like shells, Axel Chay masters the art of versatility like no one else, and that's probably what we love most about him. Don't hesitate to scour second-hand platforms: you can still find some gems there that are no longer commercially available.

At Honoré

Seating, tables, lighting… Honoré has more than one string to its bow. The string, this Marseille-based company which is celebrating its 40th anniversary this year, works it like no other to create wall lights that showcase the material beautifully. Also available in raffia, they can be imagined just as well in an office as above a worktop.

At The Socialite Family

Take a good dose of Italian design. Add a pinch of 70s spirit, and twist it all with a Parisian sauce: The Socialite Family's recipe hits the mark every time, and wall lights are no exception. Versatile, they can be imagined just as well above a splashback as above a headboard.

At Hay Design

Graphic and refined, understated yet inspired, Scandinavian design has long since made its place in our interiors. The essential publisher Hay has encapsulated it in wall lights that are sometimes colourful, sometimes chrome-plated. Good news if you fall in love at the end of your project: they're also available in corded versions, so they can simply be plugged in.
