6 ways to create a laundry room

You told yourself it would never come to this. But then the temperatures dropped, and the clothes horse found itself in the middle of the living room for three days (your jumpers were still not dry). No wonder you started dreaming of having a laundry room. We promise you: a few Ikea cabinets and some Plum Living doors later, you can make your laundry room dreams a reality. Let’s take a look at the examples that inspire us (and hopefully you too!)

Squeaky clean

Hooray! After having lived in the kitchen, then the bathroom, your washing machine finally has a permanent home. Now is the perfect time to take design tips from both rooms. Near the pantry, the low modules make the perfect spot for your selection of household products. On the wall, a range of cupboards and open shelves improve your storage situation, whilst also adding visual balance to the space. What now? A quick trip to Ikea, then a few clicks on our website to shop our Amandier grisé smooth fronts - and there you have it!

From floor to wall

Whether it’s in the kitchen or the bathroom, we seem to always face the same challenge: there never seems to be enough storage space. But take this layout for example, which uses the full height of the ceiling, thanks to wall-mounted cabinet frames built in a column style. The real stroke of genius here? The built-in rail to hang wet or freshly-ironed clothes. You can recreate this clever combination too, with a mix of Metod modules and our Gris nuage panelling.

Carte blanche

If you’re someone who swears by all-white walls, we can’t imagine you want the laundry room to be an exception to the rule. But… maybe now is the time to take the plunge. Our first tip: style the storage columns with framed fronts, then highlight them with black handles. Second tip: experiment with the heights and depths of the cabinet frames by using wall modules that add relief to the space. Minimalist, effective, truly timeless.

Dive in

A few (rarely visually appealing) appliances, laundry lying around, cleaning products that need to be cleared away… It’s usually the same scene in the laundry room, where convenience takes precedence over aesthetic appeal. Now time to break that pattern by adding a healthy splash of colour! In this project by Mon Concept Habitation, cupboards and storage compartments are painted in a colour similar to our Vert de gris, and the worktop and handles are made from natural materials. Just as cosy as the kitchen, in our opinion.

Space of dreams

Is your laundry pile just as big as your laundry room? When the space can take on as many roles as this one seen here, that will never be a problem! It may even become one of your preferred places to relax. One one side, we have a sink and surrounding surfaces that serve as a base for a long row of storage compartments. On the other side, Metod wall boxes fitted on the floor act as drawers and a bench. Washing clothes as a family has really never been easier!

The house fairy

On your visit to the famous Swedish shop, you may have seen that Pax cabinet frames are often transformed into a linen cupboard. Simply add our Blue 05 - Bleu paon and there you have it: a unique piece of furniture where you can organise your ironing board and piles of laundry to your heart’s content. And it doesn’t stop there: if you add a few finishing panels, you can create a wall module that can hide packets of washing powder and other essentials. For the final touch, add a coat of two-tone paint. We promise this will make you dread ironing a little less...!
