We’re daring to go for contrasting tile grout!
It’s one of those details you don’t think about, yet it makes all the difference. Colourful or darker, thin or thick, in silicone or cement, the grout can completely transform the look of your tiling, whether it’s new or you want to give it a refresh. From the kitchen to the bathroom, all that’s left is to get inspired… and dare!
On an island
For the façades, you’ve made your choice: with wood, you’re sure you won’t get tired of it. But there’s no question of giving up your creativity! Ultra practical for everyday use, the central island is the perfect playground to give free rein to your colour cravings. In the bathroom
Small spaces, big creativity! If you’re still hesitant to take the plunge in the kitchen, try a first test in the bathroom. Here, designer Ekhi Busquet made the most of the XXS dimensions of her washroom to fully embrace a graphic look. The green grout echoes the walls in the same shade and stretches down to the floor to create cohesion. Playful and effective.
As a splashback
Yellow, green, pink, blue, grey… Grout now comes in every shade to match the colour of your tiles as closely as possible. Do the opposite! Go neon on sugar-almond tiles, or charcoal to cut through a faded pink — contrasting grout gives a tiled splashback a new lease of life. Good news: you can also apply it a few years after the original installation to give it a fresh burst of energy.
As a wall base
At first glance, you might not bet on it. Too common, too simple, the subway tile has long since become a basic. It’s up to you to reinterpret it! Used on the lower part of the wall in a bathroom or powder room, it takes on a whole new look when paired with colorful grout. All that’s left is to choose the shade and create a subtle harmony with the floor and paint.
Tiled countertop version
Why not go for a tiled countertop instead? Affordable and easy to cut, it works for any budget. As for the tiles, no need to break the bank. Even the simplest models can be elevated with a touch of colored grout—or you can go for a bold black-and-white look and carry it all the way up to the wall cabinets. Proof that style doesn’t depend on the size of your wallet!
