How do I create a Walnut and Mocha cabinet?

It’s time to forget everything you thought you knew about Walnut cabinets. A far cry from the sideboard that lived for years in your grandparents’ house, this retro-style piece of furniture can add a touch of class to any room. This one is suspended from the wall (so light and fresh), creating a floating effect and plenty of storage space. We reveal all project details in this Step by Step.

A few tips to consider before getting started:

This piece of furniture was made with Metod wall-mounted pedestals suspended on a Metod rail attached to the wall. The plugs and screws to use to fix the rail depend on the material of your wall (concrete, plasterboard) and the total weight it needs to support. Ask for more information at your local DIY shop! Doors and drawers: our doors are pre-drilled to be fixed to Metod cabinet frames. Plan for 2 Utrusta 110° hinges (to be bought at Ikea) per door. Our drawer fronts are designed to be fitted with Maximera rails. Sides: the finishing panels used to create the shelf and to dress the sides of this furniture are screwed from the inside of the cabinets, with 25 to 30mm screws. Cut-outs: none required for this project.
