What materials are Plum Living fronts made from?
- The base of our fronts is made from medium-density fibreboard (MDF) or chipboard.
- Our matt lacquer fronts are crafted from an MDF panel covered with a melamine layer. Primer is then applied before a robot sprays lacquer across the front, back, and edges.
- Our natural wood fronts—whether oak, honey oak, or walnut—are made from a chipboard panel veneered with real wood sheets. For oak and walnut finishes, the veneer is protected by a matt varnish, while the honey oak finish receives a tinted stain prior to applying the same protective matt varnish.
- For painted wood, we apply a natural oak veneer to the chipboard panel, which is then spray-painted in a paint booth.
- Additionally, the U-shape handles on our integrated fronts are crafted from solid wood.
- For cane and raffia fronts, there is a slight distinction: they are constructed from a plywood core, which is then veneered with real oak sheets. Depending on the chosen finish, these are either booth-painted or protected by varnish.
- Both cane and raffia are natural, flexible, and lightweight materials crafted from woven reeds.
Where are your products manufactured?
Our products are manufactured in France, Portugal, Germany, and Italy by specialist workshops that have decades of expertise in bespoke interior design and also produce for the leading high-end French and German kitchen brands.
- Matt lacquer fronts and brass plinths: France and Germany.
- Natural wood, painted wood, and cane fronts: Portugal.
- Worktops: Italy and Portugal.
- Paints: France, produced in the Ressource factory.
- Ceramic tiles: Spain.
- Sinks: Depending on the model: Italy, France, Germany, Poland, Turkey, or India (full details are available on each product page).
- Taps: Italy and Portugal.
- Bulle, Linéa, and Coqui handles (polished brass): Designed and produced from start to finish in France.
- Other handles: Production is managed by this same French manufacturer, who entrusts initial shaping to a partner in India before completing the hand-finishing, metalworking, and brass, chrome, or matt black coatings in their French workshops.
How do I choose the right compatible Ikea front?

How do I care for and maintain my fronts?
A soft, slightly damp cloth is all you need for daily cleaning.
What are the lead times for manufacturing and delivery?
Our lead times are 8 to 10 weeks, as all our products are made to order. This allows us to offer hundreds of front dimensions alongside over 200 choices of colours, wood finishes, and designs for a truly bespoke level of personalisation.
With so many possibilities, every order is unique. That is why we do not keep stock and require this lead time to craft your project to the highest standards.
Is it easy to install Plum Living fronts?
Yes, our fronts are specifically designed to fit seamlessly onto compatible Ikea cabinet frames, aligning perfectly with their dimensions and factory-drilled hinge positions.
Are the fronts pre-drilled?
Yes, our door and drawer fronts come pre-drilled for hinges, using the exact same hole positioning as Ikea fronts across the Metod, Pax, and Besta ranges. The hinge fixings are therefore fully prepared for you.
However, handle positions are not pre-drilled. This leaves you complete freedom to choose your preferred handle design and its exact placement on the front.
Can I install a Plum Living kitchen myself?
Yes, many of our clients install their projects themselves. Alternatively, you can easily select an installer here.
Do your fronts fit cabinet frames other than Ikea?
Our pre-drilled fronts are specifically engineered for the Ikea Metod, Pax, and Besta ranges. They do not fit cabinet frames from other major high-street retailers.
However, they can be fitted to custom carcasses built by a joiner, provided the furniture is constructed to match our standard door dimensions.
